Life Story
I was raised in a Christian family and baptized at a young age. My parents showed me love, and church was a big part of our lives. But looking back, my faith was more about being morally better than others rather than having a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I knew the gospel and that I needed forgiveness for my sins, but I had no one to guide me in my faith journey.
Despite my focus on the ways of the world, God stayed close to me. I attended church and tried to be moral, but I wasn't truly living the life my Savior intended for me. In 2003, I met my wife, Karin, and began attending church regularly with her. This sparked renewal in my faith. We were married in 2004 and moved to Flower Mound. After having our two daughters, Marbella (2006) and Milana (2008), we discovered The Village Church in 2010 and became part of a Home Group. Through this community, we learned to live life together and pursue a deeper attention to saying “yes” to God's call in our life.
It was at this time that we felt the pull to adopt a 15-year-old girl from Ukraine. A heartbreaking and abrupt end to the adoption process propelled us to start Love2540, a ministry that meets the physical and the spiritual needs of those in our community. This ministry opened our eyes to the bigger picture of God’s plan and taught us to love, serve, and disciple others. In 2014, God surprised us with another adoption opportunity, and we welcomed a baby boy, Micah, into our family.
Looking back, I see the many opportunities God has given me, and how often I have failed to recognize them. However, each time I say “yes,” the result has been transformative. I experience a special kind of joy, beauty, growth, and intimacy that only comes from following Him. That's where I want to be—in the center of His will for my life.
Hope for The Village Church
My hope is that we would be a family of disciples so overwhelmed by the love of Christ that our faith and actions would move outside the walls of TVC and have a radical impact on the greater Flower Mound, Highland Village, and Lewisville area.
