Our Care Avenues

We have several avenues at TVC where you can receive hope, care, and encouragement. Open share groups, curriculum-based groups, one-on-one discipleship, corporate teaching, corporate worship, and classes are available for connection and care.

If you are seeking immediate help, reach out to crisis lines and local shelters.

As part of fulfilling our mission, The Village provides financial assistance to those in need among our church. As part of this process, we ask that you submit a benevolence request.

The Art of Care is a two-semester foundational class that explores the beauty and nuance of caring for one another through seasons of loss, suffering, or oppression and equipping you with TVC's trauma-informed philosophy of care. We teach through topics such as depression, anxiety, grief, abuse cycles, dysfunctional relationship patterns, addiction, marriage conflict, and family of origin.

The local church has a vital role to play in care, advocacy, and support. If you would like to better understand and respond to the care needs of our church and community or serve in our Care Ministry, we invite you to join us for The Art of Care. Registration opens in July and closes in August.

Recovery offers a safe place to pursue healing and freedom in Christ due to sin, suffering, or oppression. We use three broad categories to help inform us on how to provide care and foster healing:

  • Suffering as a result of personal sin (addiction, committing infidelity, self-righteousness, gossip)
  • Suffering and/or oppression as a result of a person being sinned against (abuse, abandonment, racial trauma, unfaithful spouse, codependency)
  • Suffering primarily as a result of a person living in a fallen world (death, disease, loss)

We know it's not as simple as three categories. Pain and heartbreak don't fit neatly into each one. However, in the midst of any upheaval, we want to highlight Jesus as the source of steadiness. He is unchanging, loving, and forgiving.

What to Expect:

Recovery meets every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. The first hour includes large group teaching, testimony, and a time of worship. During the second hour, we break into open share groups based on gender and topic for connection and sharing. These groups can be a great entry point for seeking healing, support, or freedom from the bondages of sin.

All groups are considered “open” groups, which means you can join at any time. We meet year round and we don't require registration—come as you are!

Open Groups:
  • Men's: Newcomers, General Life Issues, Non-Chemical Addiction, Chemical Addiction, Marriage Reconciliation
  • Women's: Newcomers, General Life Issues, Abuse, Addictions, Marriage Reconciliation
  • Couples: Marriage Reconciliation

The groups offered can change depending on availability of attendees and leaders.

Care Groups provide support and connection through biblically-based curriculum on specific topics of suffering, loss, or oppression. Care groups meet on a semester basis and have fall and spring sessions. Registration is required for all groups before the start of the semester. Childcare is available for birth through 5th grade; you will complete the childcare registration form when you register for the group.

GRIEF SUPPORT (COED)

Grief Support provides an opportunity to gather and enter the sacred space of bearing witness to the pain of losing a loved one. Our desire is for your loss to be known in the context of community and processed through the hope we have in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

FOSTER AND ADOPTION PARENT GROUP (COED)

The foster and adoption journey can be very challenging and turn family dynamics upside down. Because families are trained to be selective in the details they share about their child (especially if fostering), they often feel alone in their struggles. Our hope is to provide this safe space for families to be heard, encouraged, prayed over, and incorporated into a supportive community.

This group meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month.

The hope of this group is to provide a community of understanding and support to parents with children who are questioning their sexual orientation, gender identity, and struggling or identifying LGBTQ+.

Note: The child who is questioning, struggling, or identifying LGBTQ+ needs to be 14 years old or older for the parents to participate in this group.

PRODIGAL (COED)

Our mission is to support families who have loved ones wandering from God and causing chaos because of their poor choices. In community, you will find that others share the same feelings of fear, worry, and shame. We learn what the Bible has to say about the chaos, how to process hard emotions, how to leave a path open for your prodigal's return, how to find answers to your suffering, and more. Don't stay in isolation. Come join us and begin your healing.

Professional counseling is one avenue God has ordained for healing and growth in our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual lives. At TVC, we partner and refer to professional counselors who help us care for the people of our church and the local community.

We bring couples together to learn about God's design for marriage through premarital mentorship, small groups (Re|engage), Recovery, and Enrich events. Each of our marriage offerings applies biblical principles for building a healthy relationship. We want to help you grow in your relationship with your spouse, other couples, and God.

Premarital Mentoring

A godly marriage involves the purposeful effort of two people moving toward a healthy union with each other and with Christ. We encourage pre-engaged and engaged couples to enter into relationships that include both individual and couple-focused reflection and growth. We encourage your preparation for marriage to be supported in three possible environments:

  • Mentoring relationship with a wise, experienced couple
  • Multigenerational group relationship
  • Professional counseling relationship

To apply for premarital mentoring, complete this application.

We are a welcoming home, considering and supporting people of all abilities in our discipleship efforts. Whenever possible, we practice inclusion and reasonable accommodations for people of diverse abilities to participate and use their gifts at TVC. Where inclusion is not possible, we seek to provide alternative environments for discipleship. We care for the families, caregivers, and individuals by providing activities, resources, and support environments.
